For the week of May 31 - June 4th

Greetings Super Heroes!
Ok... so you have to feel it.. Right? I know you were last week.... feeling the end of the school year! Only about 2 ½ weeks... hard to imagine... honestly the time has gone by so fast.. It’s been a great year... I have enjoyed each and every one of you... there is so much good in you all! I have seen it, heard it... and experienced!
2nd and 5th Period: 2nd: This week we are moving onto Geometry! Shapes, lines.. angles... all sorts of good stuff!

BLOG QUESTION 2nd and 5th
Here is your blog question... Go home... and 1) count how many pair of shoes you have... 2) then count how many shoestring holes there are in each shoe... and list your total here_____________


4th Period: This week we will be continuing our work on measurement... and converting inches to feet... and all that good stuff.. Hope you don’t have stinky feet.. Get it... feet! Hahahahahah!



BLOG QUESTION FOR 4th Period:


So REI .. An amazing.. Super Heroes store... with all kinds of goodies in it... was having a great sale this weekend... so I bought some Superfeet for my running shoes. The original price was $34.95 and I paid $27.89 for them... 1) so what percent did I get off? 2) And is that a good deal? 3) And is it a good enough deal to you to purchase two pairs?

Don’t forget as you read this millions of oil is being pumped out into the ocean... and people are throwing junk into the street that will be washed out to the sea.. And of course.. There are still about 39 grams or 1 tablespoon = 12 grams os sugar, that’s per soda!!

Blog for the week of May 24 - 28

Greetings Super Heroes!

Greetings SUPER HEROES...

Hopefully you were dry this weekend! Saturday I ventured out to Forest Grove... still not sure I ever saw the forest or the grove???

Are they lost? Anyhow I saw about hmmm 90 or so Super Heroes! Yep... and one day it is my hope that each of you will be doing the same thing about this time of year that those Super Heroes were doing! Have you figured out where I was?

I was at my son’s Graduation.. He earned his Masters in Teaching Degree and is now looking to teach Middle School or High School Science and maybe Math. Though it poured.. I mean POURED rain... it was still a fantastic celebration of hard work and determination! I really do expect, hope and dream about each of you going onto college to earn a degree so that you’ll be able to reach the dreams and goals that you have!
2nd and 5th Period: 2nd: This week we pick up on Integers.. I mean MINTegers and also continue our pre-algebra work... Remember that a letter.. Is a variable and that = an unknown number! And when a number and a variable are squished together.. That means______? Let me know... if you remember!


BLOG QUESTION 2nd and 5th Period:
Ok.. Time for some shopping! Go to this link http://www.bestbuy.com/ and you will have $545.00 to spend. You are to purchase as many items as possible BUT you are NOT allowed to buy two of anyone item! You cannot go over $545.00.... and if you have change left over you need to list the amount. You will write down the item you purchased and the cost.. Remember to keep a total of how much you have spent!
4th Period: This week we are going to be working on the area of a triangle... and a little recap of other areas... remember... area is how many squares we can fit inside an object... where as the perimeter is the distance around the object!

BLOG QUESTION FOR 4th Period:
I have wanted to do something on Water all year long and now the year is almost over... so this may be the best that we can do... Go to this site http://water.org/ , then go to the Crisis Tab at the top of the page and then click on Water Facts tab.. Then click on the tab “Water.” Read over the bulleted points under the heading WATER, after that answer these questions: How many people die from a lack of water per year_______, #1) roughly how many people is that per day_____? #2) Now figure out how many days are left of school _____and then how many people will die due to a lack of water by the time the school year is over_____. If it’s true that you need 13.2 gallons of water to live each day... #3) how many of gallons of water will your family need for today_____? #4) How many gallons of water will each person in your Math class need _____?

Blog for the week of May 17 - 21

Greetings Super Heroes!

Ok so.. Get this! In 1 month you will be on vacation... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super Heroes... can you believe that you are almost done with this school year... where has the time flown by? It’s been faster than a speeding built, it’s been able to leap tall building with a single bound... it’s been batty.... and even webby..?? I am excited for you, your growing up... your learning... it’s an exciting time!


Enjoy the rest of the year.. These are memories... you’ll enjoy for the rest of your life!


2nd and 5th Period: Blind date? Yep... Super Heroes.. Even go on them, I am sure I saw Spider man or even Batman and I am guessing Superman went on at least one... and since you are to young to date... rightttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt... then talking about Blind Dates only helps you in the future... but ... how do Blind Dates relate to math???? You will find out!

BLOG QUESTION 2nd and 5th Period:


If there are roughly 28 days left till vacation ... #1) how many hours___________ is that.. #2) And how many minutes___________ and of course #3) how many seconds is that ____________till your on vacation?


4th Period: We continue to learn about Circumference, Area... and the story of Pi! How do you measure the circumference of a dragon?

You will after your done with this Blog Question... #1) How many gallons of oil are spilling out a day_____ #2) and that relates to how many barrels of oil per day_______ #3) How much is 1 barrel of oil worth?______ #4) Then how much money has been lost in a day from the oil spill?____________. #5) Now find out how many days the oil spill has been taking place and how much money that is_______ . _____________ #7) Then ask 10 people if they know... how many gallons of oil are being spilled into the ocean per day and then record their data. So you will ask, “Do you know how many of gallons of oil are spilled a day from the Gulf Oil Spill? How many can tell you the correct amount or even close to the correct amount? ________ How many did not know? _____ . Lastly, #8) What does this tell you about people and their knowledge of the Oil Spill?

Blog for May 10 - 14

Greetings SUPER HEROES... A beautiful weekend, and hopefully you all enjoyed Mothers day.. or rather your moms enjoyed mother days... you know.. some of you may not live with your moms... but someone takes very good care of you and may be the “mom” in your life hopefully they too enjoyed the day with you!


Plus it was so sunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ah a good sign that summer is on its way!


I am proud of how hard you worked on your State Math Test. I know they are a drag.. Long... boring... but still something we need to do and I know you did your best and that is all I ever expect from you! This week 2nd period will be finishing up their testing.. And then we are all done until next year!
2nd and 5th Period: 2nd, as I have just said.. You will be taking the State Test most of the week... 5th period.. We will begin working on Algebra... oh boy!!! Variables... and all sorts of fun stuff!~ Stay tuned!


BLOG QUESTION 2nd and 5th Period:


I saw Iron Man 2 Friday night, what a way cool movie.. in fact so cool I am sure I will see it in the theater again! #1) If Iron Man left his home at 3:45 in the afternoon and drove his way cool Audi all the way to his office and arrived there at 5:56 how much elapsed time did it take for him to get to his office?___________



4th Period: This week we will continue our work on Geometry. Last week we started off with Diameter and this week we will touch on that a bit more and then look at area... you never know when you might want to find out the area of something!


BLOG QUESTION FOR 4th Period:


As I wrote in the above Blog question, I saw Iron Man 2 Friday night... Wow.. Way cool I thought... it was great... just as good or even better than Iron Man 1. Anyhow... #1) Iron man possesses no super human powers except what is in his suit. If Iron man left his home at 2:15 am to go save stranded travelers in India and it took him 15 mins and 35 seconds to get there what time would he have arrived?_______ #2) and then if he drank 5 Pepsis... how much sugar would have taken in with those 5 sodas______? #3) Also.. You are to read the Cool Site of the Week and list 2 ideas out of the many presented that you think would help schools do better!

Blog for the week of May 3rd - 7th

Greetings Super Heroes!

Greetings SUPER HEROES... at this very momement Mr. Rott has ice on his left foot.. And a bottle of frozen water under his right foot... I know.. I should not be using bottled water BUT.. I use the same one over and over again! Today I ran my first Half-Marathon... let me tell you it was an event! It took me 2 hours and 40 minutes... and was I ever glad to be done! A great experience... plus I was able to run with my daughter Rachel. I hope that one day you will give it a try!!



STATE TESTING THIS WEEK FOR MOST CLASSES!
2nd and 5th Period: We will be having State Testing and also working on elapsed time and making change... I found that many of you are still not so sure on how to deal with elapsed time or making change! These are two sills you will really use as you grow up!

BLOG QUESTION 2nd and 5th Period:
#1) If the average runner pounds the ground 800 times per mile and I ran 13 miles how many times did Mr. Rott’s poor feet pound the ground_____________?
4th Period: This week we will be doing state testing... along with working on perimeter and area ... should be fun!
