Week of January 4 - 8

Greetings Super Heros!

I hope that all of you had a wonderful break and are ready to get back to work! And that is just what we will be doing.. Like Superman saving a falling airplane, or Batman fighting the Joker we will be working hard to keep Gotham City safe from those who do not know how to do math!

Your elf pictures will probably be up for a week or so . . . Office Max takes them down . . . so watch till your eyes drop out! Any not really. You need your eyes.. For um.. Lets see your homework!

Remember! Each week you will have a blog question, please reread the How to Post Answers to the BLOG Questions below, so that you won’t lose points for not answering your classes’ blog question. BUT NO QUESTION THIS WEEK!! - lets see if you read the blog! :)

HOW TO POST ANSWERS TO BLOG QUESTIONS:
1) First, I would suggest that you write down your answer and have it ready to type into the comment box.
2) You go down to the current Week's Blog and click on the word COMMENT.
3) Once there type in your answer.. And of course nice things to say to Mr. Rott (that would be me) and very IMPORTANT you need to put your name and period!!! Just like Superman your secret identity is safe with me!
4) Lastly, when you’re ready to post the comment, click on the word ANONYMOUS and then click post comment.. and poof.. it's all done!

The 411 for the week!

What 2nd and 5th Period classes will be up to this week:
This week we are working on multiples and fractions.. and we will start figuring out who the witch doctor is?    A little back tracking but then its full steam ahead!

BLOG QUESTION 2nd and 5th Period:
On Santa’s flight from the North Pole all the way around the world back again to the North Pole takes him 3 hours and 15 minutes. Super man can do it in 35 mins. Who can fly faster? And also how much more time does it take Santa to make the trip than it does Superman?

Here is what is cooking for 4th Period:

This week we will be going over multiplying mixed numbers a bit then working on converting fractions to decimals and back and forth.. kinda like a tennis match!  Pay attention so that you do NOT get dizzy!

BLOG QUESTION FOR 4th Period:
If Santa has a bag full of gifts for all the good girls and boys... hmmm does that count Jose and Carols? Anyhow... Elf Cammy was counting all the presents and she found the sum of the presents that were left in Santa’s bag to be 3,456 presents. Of all those presents, Elf Ayla found that 525 were wrapped in red paper, 234 were in blue, and 1,123 were covered with pictures of santa, and the rest of the presents were covered with candy canes. Your Elf question is: How many presents were covered with candy canes? You are to also make a fraction for all presents... for example how many out of 3,456 are covered in red paper? Write a fraction that represents each different wrapped present.
