OLD WEST FACT OF THE WEEK: There’s snow in them there hills!
In the old west times of course ... we know there were not fancy weather stations, or weather reports or even ... the weather channel! Rain, snow, blazing heat... whatever the conditions the job still needed to be cared for. Work was work no matter what the weather was like!
People, horses, cows.. All the farm animals.. Either had a roof over their head or they were stuck in the rain or snow.. Even the heat!

So what about the weather here.. How much raid did we just get over the weekend?
1st and 6th Period:
Well cowboys and cowgirls.... A quick rodeo with decimals and then its on to turning fractions into decimals... its like steer wrestiling... grab those horns and hang on!

1th PERIOD BLOG QUESTION:
Talking about weather... it sure seemed to rain a lot!
#1) On Sunday, Portland received 0.68 of rain fall. Usually Portland receives 0.16 of an inch of rain. What is the difference between the amount of rain from Sunday and what the city usually receives?
#2) So far this month Portland has received 3.38 inches of rain. What is the place and value of each of these numbers?
#3) If for the whole month of January Portland has received 3.38 inches of rain, how much had fallen before Sunday? If you subtract 0.68 from 3.38 you will find out!
4th Period:
Howdy there ... young cowpokes! You did great with turning fractions into decimals... but tisk tisk... decimals also like to be fractions...Yippie! So we will be turning those pesky rattlesnakes decimals back into fractions!
