Blog for November 22 - 24

Howdy Partners!

Ok.. So did it snow? Will it snow? It’s Saturday night as I write this and its supposed to snow Sunday night or Monday morning.. BUT, will it be cold enough to snow,  to cancel school?

Now.. it's Sunday morning.... the weather report states that it will snow down to 500 feet and the valley floor.. Hmm so what is the elevation of newberg?

GUESS what .. you will find out beofre the week is over! OH HOW FUN!

I know.. I know...  I said there would be NO blog this week... but with it going to snow... I just have to have a little blog question...but there will be no homework this week! :) how does that sound?

REMEMBER THE BLOOOOOOOG!!!

  OLD WEST FACT: Elevation

What is elevation? A point on the Earth’s surface that is measured relative to sea level. So basically.. It’s how far something is above the ocean... does that make sense? Above sea level... its like Mt. Hood is 11,249 feet above sea level, that is a LONG ways up there!
BLOG QUESTION..........................FOR ALL CLASSES
Mt. Hood
First, make SURE you have read the above Old West Fact... its all about elevation... since it is supposed to snow down to 500 feet above sea level or even lower... I thought we could learn a little about elevatoin! Usually the higher you are above sea level the better chance you have of having snow.... that is why ski resorts are not at the beach, rather they are in the mountains!

Your blog question for this week is.... and try to find where your house is... it won’t be like you can look up the address but... follow these directions and see how close you can get..

STEPS:
A) Go to "Earthtools"

B) On the left under where it says, “Jump to Country.” There is a pull down ... pull that down and scroll down until you find “United States of America.”

C) Then under the “Jump to Country,” click on “Find elevation/Height Above Sea Level.”

D) Click on Oregon and it will ZOOM in... use the cursor to move the map until you get closer to Newberg. Keep using the tool on the left to zoom in untill you can clearly read the area around Newberg.

E) The closer you get the more detail youll see. Now look for your house.. Or around your house.

F) Once you have found near where your hosue is.. Look to the left under the “Earth Tools,” There you will see how many feet above sea level your house is... also how many meters.

G) Answer these questions - #1) How many feet above sea level is your house_________ and #2) How many meters above sea level is your hosue______?
